Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., also known by his stage name Young Dolph is an American rapper born on November 17, 1985. He released his debut studio album titled “King of Memphis” in 2016.

His debut album ranked number 49 on the Billboard 200 chart. His highest-charting project was his album titled “Rich Slave”, which was released in 2020, ranking number 4 at the Billboard 200.

He had a successful music career and was active from 2006 till November 2021, when he was shot dead in Memphis, Tennessee.

Early Life

Young Dolph was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 27, 1985. His family, however, moved to Memphis, Tennessee, when he was two years old. He grew up with two sisters and two brothers. He was also a second cousin to the famous rapper Juice world.

Young Dolph was mostly raised by his grandmother due to his parent’s addiction to crack cocaine. His grandmother taught him most of the lessons he applied while struggling to be an independent adult.

He started supporting his family at an early age, as responsibilities fell on him after his family structurally crumbled.

He soon focused on growing his music career while he was quite a college to support his younger siblings. In his high school days, he attended and graduated from Hamilton High School.

Personal Life

Young Dolph was 26 years old at the point when he died. He and his partner Mia Jaye had two children named Tre Tre and Aria.

He is the cousin to Key Glock and Juice World, and it was known that he made some music collaborations with them during his active years as a musician. Young Dolph has known his philanthropy as he donated $25,000 to his alma mater, Hamilton High school, also providing motivational speeches to students.

Young Dolph was a real hard worker who put a lot of effort and resources to make his name in the streets and music industry.

Young Dolph died November 17, 2017, in Los Angeles. It was reported that he was shot outside a retail shop at Hollywood Los Angles, after which he was admitted to the hospital and was said to be recovering from three gunshot wounds. He died on November 17, 2017, and was buried on November 30, 2021.

After his death, a street in Memphis located at the intersection of Dunn Avenue and Airways of Boulevard, where he was raised, was named after him.

Young Dolph built his music career from scratch. He was known to have spent both money and time on building his music career. He released his debut mixtape titled “Paper Route Campaign” in 2008.

Following his debut mixtape in 2008, he established his own record label, Paper Route Empire 2010. Finally, in 2006, he released his debut album titled “The King of Memphis”, in which he featured the single “Get Paid”.
