Temie Giwa-Tubosun was born on December 1985 in Ila Orangun, Osun State, Nigeria. She happens to be the fourth of six children of her parents, who were educationists.

Temie Giwa-Tubosun was carved from childhood to be the best, and she grew in Ila, Ilesha, and in Ibadan before moving to the United States at the age of 15 in 2001.

Temie attended high school and university in the United States before returning to Nigeria for the first time in 2009, after her first year in graduate school. She returned for an internship program for the Department of International Development at Paths2 in Abuja, Nigeria.

The program lasted for three months. During this period, Temie encountered protracted labour (bleeding after labour) from a poor Nigerian Mother, which led to maternal mortality. This convinced and inspired her to set up healthcare to help minimize this mortality rate among Nigerian mothers.

Temie Giwa-Tubosun founded “One Percent Blood Donation Enlightenment Foundation” in 2012 due to her eagerness to end blood shortage during birth.

Well, from One Percent, Temie founded Lifebank in 2016. She is currently working as the CEO of Lifebank based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Education 

Temie Giwa-Tubosun started her education in Nigeria before moving to the United States in 2001 at 15. She secured her O’Level certificate from Osseo Senior High School, Minnesota, in 2003.

Temie bagged her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2007.

She also bagged her master’s degree in Public Administration and International Management focusing on health system management and health financing from Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and graduated in July 2010.

Career

Temie Giwa-Tubosun started her career life while in school. She started with attending an internship for Department for International Development at Paths2 in Abuja, Nigeria, where she got her first inspiration for healthcare.

Temie also attended a graduate fellowship at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, in January 2010, which lasted till July 2010, her graduation.

In 2010 aslo, Temie briefly worked in Minnesota at Fairview Health Services. She started a fellowship with the Global Health Corps in August 2011, spending her next year working with the Millennium Villages Project, a United Nations Development Programme, and Millennium Promise project at Mbarara, Uganda.

Temie Giwa-Tubosun returned to Nigeria in August 2012 and wrote a column on YNaija magazine titled “what works,” a fantastic column that inspired so many youths.

During this period, on May 24, 2012, she founded “One Percent blood donation Enlightenment Foundation” aimed at educating people on the need and importance of donating blood when needed, increasing the efficiency distribution of blood ending the issue of blood Shortage.

Temie proceeded to work for companies in Nigeria. Among them is the Lagos State Office of Facility Management, whose primary work includes upgrading schools, hospitals, monuments, and other facilities managed by the State.

Temie also worked for Nollywood Workshops as Program Manager from 2014 to 2015. During the birth of her first child, Temie had some complications which almost claimed her life. Before these, Temie was inspired to open a medical distribution company for healthcare throughout out.

This led to the birth of Lifebank in January 2016. Lifebank, on the order hand, is a medical distribution company that uses data and technology to gather health information and deliver essential medical products to hospitals in Nigeria.
