Micheal Kenneth Williams was born to a Bahamian mother and an American father in Brooklyn, United States. He spent his childhood days at Greenville, South Carolina, where his father is from.

He attended George Westinghouse Career and Technical High school during his high school days and later enrolled at National Black Theatre in New York.

Williams had a rough childhood as he was molested as an adolescent. He worked at a pharmaceutical company to support his parents but later had to quit to focus on his dancing skills.

Career

Williams started his career as a successful dancer. He performed as a background dancer in music tours and did a little modeling. As a dancer, he appeared in more than 50 music videos, which helped set him up for his acting career.

He decided to pursue his acting career fully. He soon participated in several La MaMA Experimental Theatre productions, the National Black Theatre Company, and the Theater for a New Generation directed by Mel Williams.

Micheal got his first acting role in 1996. At that time, American rapper Tupac Shakur uncovered Michael acting skills and cast him as High Top in the film Bullet.

His popularity first sprung when he played the role of Omar in the HBO series The wire. His recognition grew as Barrack Obama listed him as his favorite character in The wire. In 2010 he played the role of Chalky White in the series Boardwalk Empire which fetched him more popularity.

Death

Williams died on the 6th of September 2021 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was confirmed that he died of a combination of fentanyl, p-fluorofentanyl, and some medicine consequently proved to be an overdose intake. His funeral was held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
