On August 17, 1963, Jon Gruden was born in Sadusky, Ohio, United States, to Jim Gruden and Kathy Gruden. His family encouraged his engagement in football.
His father worked as an assistant coach at the University of Notre Dame, and his brother Jay also had a successful career in Arena Football League. Jon played basketball, baseball, and football in his high school days. He engaged actively in the school football team.
Jon was raised in a catholic family, with his mom and dad actively present during his childhood. He attended high school in South Bend, Indiana, and his university in New Concord, Ohio.
Jon Gruden attended Clay High School, Bend, Indiana. After his schooling in Clay High School, he proceeded to Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio.
He later transferred to the University of Dayton, where he graduated with a degree in Communications in 1986.
Jon Gruden is married to Cindy Gruden. He met his wife in 1985 when she was a student at the University of Tennessee. Jon got married to Cindy in 1991, and they have three children, namely Deuce, Michael, and Jayson.
Jon Gruden’s career started as an assistant coach after graduation from the University of Tennessee. He served as a graduate assistant from 1986 to 1987.
In 1991, Jon became a wide receiver coach at the University of Pittsburgh, an offensive assistant coach for the Green Bay Packers in 1992, and a wide receiver coach for the same team from 1993 to 1994.
Jon soon proceeded to the Philadelphia Eagles as offensive coordinator. From 1998 to 2001, Jon hit a great position as he became the head coach of the Oakland Raiders.
